Emotions!!

We had a very emotional weekend. I am not sure why. Some say that girls are worse than boys when it comes to emotions, but I don't know. Anyway, here are some pictures from our otherwise uneventful weekend. This is what Breein's face looked like a good majority of the weekend. All day Saturday, I kept hearing woeful cries from her. When asked why she was having such a bad day, I heard "Everyone in my family is being so mean to me - you, Cierra, Brock, dad - just everybody." "But dad is at work," I told her. "How could he be mean to you while he is at work?" She responded "But he was mean to me a long, long time ago, and my heart is sad from it."

This was Cierra for about an hour on Sunday night. We were trying to get a tooth out, but from her screams of anguish, you would have thought we were trying to slaughter her alive. I am surprised the people next door didn't come see what was wrong. Thankfully, we did get the tooth-only 19 or so left to go. (We did feel bad for this one, it had a bit of root left, but the adult tooth is almost all the way in. We would have understood a little bit of crying, but the absolutely defiant fit was a little over the top.)

And this was Brock during dinner on Sunday, when he asked, "Pass the sugar (salt) please," and we wouldn't allow him to pour it on by himself. Brant tried to tell him that Batman doesn't cry, but it didn't work.

I am thinking of hiring our kids out for drama lessons. Any takers?

January Blues

Ok, what now? Holidays are over, and I find myself feeling a little down. I haven't even taken any pictures since the last time I posted. So, I thought I would write about some of the ways I have been keeping busy so I don't wallow in frozen self pity too long.
1. Reorganize my house. I have no desire to clean it, but I know I will feel better if I can find things in a not-so-cluttery mess. I have finished with my living room, dining area and kitchen, and am getting rid of loads of stuff. Anybody want some of it? Come shop in my garage.
2. At least think about exercising. I always feel better when I finish a good workout, but does anyone else get tired of the videos? I want to get outdoors for a really good run or a hike. But, at least 3 more months of Turbo Jam. Needless to say, I haven't been as good about it, which is why I wrote think in the first sentence. But, summer's only 5 months away, right? I better get moving.
3. Be thankful that we have had very little inversion this year. That always makes it worse.
4. Get out the old atlas and start planning this year's vacation. We are thinking either the Oregon Coast, Escalante National Park, or Victoria B.C. What's your pick?
5. Look forward to tax return (I hope).
6. And, last of all, look at pictures of last year's summer fun. Here are a couple for you to check out.
